Patient Story: A New Chapter Begins

When Virginia Garcia patient, GS, signed the lease on his very own one-bedroom apartment, it marked far more than a new address. It represented resilience, care, and a long-awaited second chance.

“Where I’m from, if you’re homeless, you’re straight outta luck,” GS shared.

After connecting with Virginia Garcia through our Mobile Health Program and the Low Acuity Transitional Services (LATS) team, GS received critical medical care and housing support, along with something just as powerful: renewed hope. Today, he is healthier, reconnected with family, and focused on building a more stable future.

“I got a whole new outlook on life and whole new chance at my health,” GS said. “I think being here is proof that if you change your thoughts, your choices, and your attitude, the things you need start to come to you.”

GS’s story shows what is possible when care meets people where they are. As we continue celebrating 50 years of care, we are raising $1.5 million to expand our Mobile Health Program and create more stories like GS's.

Thank You For Powering Our Give!Guide Success

Thank you for an incredible 2025 Willamette Week Give!Guide campaign! Together, we exceeded our $70,000 goal and raised more than $78,000 to support Virginia Garcia’s Mobile Health Program, bringing care directly to patients and communities across our region.

Whether you made a gift, shared our posts, opened an email, or followed along from afar, your engagement made this effort a success. We are grateful to be part of a community that shows up in so many meaningful ways, and we are excited to carry this momentum forward and continue making an impact together in the year ahead.

Creating Capacity for High-Quality Care

Access to health care continues to be a challenge across Washington and Yamhill counties, especially when it comes to timely appointments and preventive services. To address this, Virginia Garcia launched a strategic initiative called Creating Capacity for High-Quality Care with a clear goal: reach more patients while maintaining the quality and consistency of care our community expects.

Thanks to intentional investments in clinic infrastructure, provider recruitment, and more efficient systems, that goal has been met. By the end of 2025, Virginia Garcia established care for 15,000 new medical patients and successfully returned our dental patient levels to pre-pandemic capacity, restoring access to preventive and ongoing care for thousands of individuals and families in our community.

This progress matters. By increasing access to routine medical and dental visits, we are reducing the need for more costly treatments down the road and strengthening long-term health outcomes for our patients. Most importantly, this work reflects our mission in action by providing high-quality, accessible care to our community when it matters most.
